P10000601.jpgWho are we?

The Victoria and Vancouver Island Jewish Burial Society was created as a not-for-profit organization to assist Jewish community members and their families arrange for religious and secular Jewish funerals and burials on Vancouver Island. It was created by representatives of Kolot Mayim Reform Temple, the Victoria Society for Humanistic Judaism, Chabad of Vancouver Island and Congregation Aish Hatorah.

To do so we have arranged with Hatley Memorial Gardens in Colwood, BC to have a section of their cemetery allocated for the Jewish community. Sands Funeral Chapel provides burial services to this cemetery as they do for the Jewish Cemetery operated by Congregation Emanu-el.

Since the establishment of the Jewish section of Hatley Gardens the VVIJBS has arranged and paid for significant improvements to the grounds including a sign (highlighted to the left), a stone path, a border of low bushes to segment the orthodox section of the cemetery, some benches and trees. Many other beautification measures are planned for the grounds.
